FTE salary vs actual salary
The FTE (full-time equivalent) salary is the yardstick that every post on the same grade shares. Two things turn it into your actual salary:
- Your hours. 30 hours out of 37 means you get 30/37 of the FTE salary, about 81%.
- Your weeks. On a 39-week contract you're paid for 39 working weeks plus the paid holiday that comes with them, about 44.65 weeks out of 52.143, so about 86%.
Together that's roughly 69% of the FTE salary for a 30-hour, 39-week contract. So a post advertised at £26,427 FTE pays about £18,349 a year.
